Plaud introduces NotePin S wearable recorder and Plaud Desktop app for AI assisted note taking
Plaud has introduced its latest hardware and software tools, consisting of the NotePin S wearable device and the Plaud Desktop application. These tools are designed to record and process spoken information from both physical meetings and digital calls. The company, which has headquarters in San Francisco and global offices in locations such as Singapore, Tokyo, and Shenzhen, intends to provide a unified workspace for professional productivity.
The NotePin S is a small, capsule shaped recording device that can be worn in several different ways. The Plaud Desktop software provides a method for capturing audio from computer based meetings without the use of visible meeting bots. Both products are integrated with a central artificial intelligence engine that handles transcription, summarisation, and data management.
Specifications and design of the NotePin S
The NotePin S is a lightweight recording tool designed for long term daily use. It weighs 17.4 grams on its own, increasing to 23.2 grams when used with the included magnetic pin. The physical dimensions of the device are 51 millimetres by 21 millimetres by 11 millimetres. It is available in three colours, which are black, silver, and purple.
The device contains two micro electromechanical systems microphones that can capture audio from a distance of up to 3 metres. It features a single physical tactile button for operation. A long press of one second, confirmed by a single vibration, starts a recording. Another long press, confirmed by two vibrations, ends the recording session. During a recording, a short press of the button allows the user to highlight specific moments for later review.
Internal storage for the device is 64 gigabytes, which is sufficient for multiple days of recorded conversations. The battery supports up to 20 hours of continuous recording or 40 days on standby. Charging is handled through a dedicated dock and a universal serial bus type c cable. The device is also compatible with Apple’s Find My network for location tracking.
Wearable accessories and versatility
One of the primary features of the NotePin S is its range of wearing options. The product comes with four different accessories in the box, allowing users to choose the method that best fits their working environment.
The magnetic pin allows the device to be attached directly to clothing. For those who prefer different styles, a lanyard is provided for wearing the device around the neck. A clip accessory can be used to fasten the recorder to pockets or bags, and a wristband is included for wearing the device like a watch. These options are intended to ensure the recorder is always accessible during conversations that happen on the move.
Plaud Desktop for digital meetings

While the NotePin S handles physical interactions, the Plaud Desktop application is designed for online meetings. The software is compatible with platforms such as Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, and Slack. It functions by capturing audio directly from the computer system, which avoids the need for meeting bots to join the call as participants.
The desktop application offers three different recording modes. Automatic mode starts and stops recording when it detects a meeting beginning or ending. Manual mode allows the user to start the process whenever they choose. A notification mode is also available, where the software detects a meeting and asks the user for permission to start recording.
Plaud Desktop can also capture system wide audio from other sources, such as video playback or live streams. During a digital meeting, users can take screenshots, type text notes, or mark audio highlights within the application. These different types of information are then combined by the software to create a more detailed record of the event.
Artificial intelligence and data processing
The processing of captured information is handled by Plaud Intelligence. This system uses various large language models, including GPT-5.1, Claude Sonnet 4, and Gemini 3 Pro, depending on the user’s subscription level. The software can transcribe audio in 112 different languages and provides speaker labels to identify who is talking.
A feature called multidimensional summaries allows the system to generate different types of notes from the same recording. For example, it can create a list of action items for a project manager or a strategic overview for an executive. There are over 10,000 templates available for these summaries, and the system can recommend specific templates based on the content of the meeting.
The system also includes a natural language assistant known as Ask Plaud. This allows users to ask questions about their recorded files, such as requesting a summary of a specific topic or finding a particular detail from a past meeting. The assistant provides answers that are linked back to the original recording for verification.
Privacy and security standards
The company has implemented several security measures to protect user data. The ecosystem is designed to meet various global standards, including the General Data Protection Regulation and the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act. It is also certified for ISO 27001 and ISO 27701, which relate to information security and privacy management.
Recordings are synchronised to a private cloud workspace, ensuring that data is backed up and accessible across different devices, including the mobile app and web platform. Users are reminded to obtain consent from all participants before recording conversations, and the software includes settings to manage these notifications and permissions.
Subscription plans and availability
The software features are offered through three different membership tiers. The Starter Plan is free of charge and provides 300 minutes of transcription per month. This plan includes access to standard language models and basic summarisation features.
The Pro Plan is priced at 99.99 dollars per year. It increases the transcription limit to 1,200 minutes per month and provides access to more advanced language models. This tier also includes features such as custom templates and smart audio trimming.
The Unlimited Plan is available for 239.99 dollars per year. As the name suggests, it offers unlimited transcription minutes. This plan is designed for heavy users who require constant recording and processing of their conversations.
The Plaud Desktop application is currently in a beta testing phase. It is only available to individuals who already own a Plaud hardware device. The company has stated that a link for the beta test will be made available on 23 December, with certain plan benefits taking effect in October 2025.
Integration and workflow automation
The system is designed to automate the transition from recording a conversation to receiving a finished summary. A feature called AutoFlow allows users to set up a sequence of actions that happen automatically. For example, a user can configure the system to transcribe a recording, generate a summary using a specific template, and then send the result via email once the process is complete.
The workspace is fully connected, meaning that a recording made on the NotePin S will appear on the mobile app, the web interface, and the desktop software. This allows for a consistent experience regardless of which device is being used. Information can be exported in more than 27 different formats, making it easier to share insights with colleagues or integrate the data into other productivity tools.
The NotePin S and Plaud Desktop are intended to bridge the gap between physical and digital communication. By providing a wearable recorder and a bot free desktop application, the company aims to help professionals maintain an accurate record of their work conversations. The use of multiple language models and automated workflows is designed to simplify the task of turning raw audio into useful information.
